PM Shehbaz to address investors at PSX in Karachi on Thursday

September 30, 2026 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to address investors at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in Karachi on Thursday.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad are also expected to attend the event, according to officials and sources close to the finance minister.

Senator Aurangzeb, who is on his way back from a trip abroad, has a series of meetings lined up in Karachi with business leaders and representatives of the business community.

He is expected to brief them on his recent visit and on his talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He is also expected to call on the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of these engagements.

Separately, the prime minister will address the inauguration ceremony of New Nazimabad via video link, according to prominent businessman and investor Arif Habib.

On the IMF front, the Fund's mission is currently in Pakistan and is expected to stay until Oct 8, the sources said.

IMF is holding talks on the fourth review of Pakistan's economic programme, which are moving along smoothly. A meeting between SenatorAurangzeb and the mission is expected later this week.

The sources said Pakistan expects to reach a staff-level agreement with the IMF in October, though the timing depends on how the ongoing review plays out.

The review matters for Pakistan as the government looks to keep its reform programme on track, strengthen external financing and support macroeconomic stability.
