PM Shehbaz meets Bill Gates, reaffirms partnership on health, digital transformation

September 24, 2025 (MLN):  Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Bill Gates, Chair of the Gates Foundation, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the Gates Foundation’s generous assistance for Pakistan’s flood relief in 2025, while also recalling the organization’s significant contribution during the devastating 2022 floods, said a press release issued today.

The Prime Minister lauded the Foundation’s continued support for Pakistan’s polio eradication campaign, immunization and nutrition programs, as well as efforts to promote financial inclusion.

He emphasized that eliminating polio remains a top national priority and stressed that collaboration with the Gates Foundation is crucial in achieving this goal.

Highlighting his government’s wide-ranging economic reforms, cashless digitization drive, and initiatives for revitalizing the economy, the Prime Minister acknowledged the Foundation’s practical and valuable cooperation in these areas.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation in health, nutrition, digital transformation, and broader socio-economic development.
