PKR strengthens 5 paisa against USD

June 05, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 4.97 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 282.17 per USD, compared to previous closing of 282.22.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 282.40 and a low (ask) of 282.15.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 282.50 for buying and 284.40 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 74.77 paisa or 0.23% against the Euro, closing at 322.03 compared to the previous value of 321.28.

Against the British Pound, PKR fell by 99.10 paisa or 0.26% to 382.71 compared to 381.72 a day ago.

The local unit depreciated 1.40 rupees or 0.41% against Swiss franc to close at 344.09.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value depreciated 1.08 paisa or 0.55% to close the session at 1.9688 versus 1.9580 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 3.57 paisa or 0.09% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.28 from 39.25.

The local currency appreciated by 1.12 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 75.23. While it rose by 1.35 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.83.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has decreased against the US Dollar by 3.83 rupees or 1.36%. While it has deteriorated 3.62 rupees or 1.28% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 2bps to 10.93% and 11.18%.
