PKR holds steady against USD

December 24, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained mostly flat, slightly appreciated by 0.95 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.20 per USD, compared to previous closing of 280.21.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.4 and a low (ask) of 281.25.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.50 for buying and 281.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 22.70 paisa or 0.07% against the Euro, closing at 330.34 compared to the previous value of 330.12.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 22.54 paisa or 0.06% to 378.66 compared to 378.44 a day ago.

The local unit fell 68.70 paisa or 0.19% against Swiss franc to close at 355.81.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value decreased 0.23 paisa or 0.13% to close the session at 1.7985 versus 1.7962 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 7.12 paisa or 0.18% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.94 from 39.87.

The local currency rose by 0.26 paisa or 0.00% against Saudi Riyal to 74.71. While it deteriorated by 0.16 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.30.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has appreciated against the US Dollar by 3.56 rupees or 1.27%. While it has weakened 1.65 rupees or 0.59% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.40% and 10.65%.
