PKR loses 9 paisa against USD

June 19, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 8.77 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 283.64 per USD, compared to previous closing of 283.55.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 284 and a low (ask) of 285.7.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 283.50 for buying and 285.60 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 1.23 rupees or 0.38% against the Euro, closing at 325.25 compared to the previous value of 326.48.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.31 rupees or 0.34% to 380.41 compared to 381.72 a day ago.

The local unit strengthened 97.39 paisa or 0.28% against Swiss franc to close at 346.26.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.41 paisa or 0.21% to close the session at 1.9522 versus 1.9563 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 1.89 paisa or 0.05% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.44 from 39.46.

The local currency fell by 2.33 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 75.60. While it weakened by 2.92 paisa or 0.04% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 77.24.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 5.30 rupees or 1.87%. While it has deteriorated 5.09 rupees or 1.80% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 2bps to 10.95% and 11.20%.
