PKR holds steady at 281.20 against USD

October 09, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) remained flat against the US dollar in Thursday’s interbank session, closing at PKR 281.20 per USD compared to the previous rate of 281.21.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.25 and a low (ask) of 282.25.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.80 for buying and 282.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 65.41 paisa or 0.20% against the Euro, closing at 326.52 compared to the previous value of 327.17.

Against the British Pound, PKR rose by 1.99 rupees or 0.53% to 375.46 compared to 377.45 a day ago.

The local unit increased 1.12 rupees or 0.32% against Swiss franc to close at 350.08.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value appreciated 0.81 paisa or 0.44% to close the session at 1.8369 versus 1.8450 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee rose 4.44 paisa or 0.11% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.45 from 39.50.

The local currency deteriorated by 0.43 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 74.97. While it gained by 0.07 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.56.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 2.56 rupees or 0.91%. While it has deteriorated 2.65 rupees or 0.94% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 10.92% and 11.17%.
