PKR ends the week unchanged at 281.46

September 19, 2025 (MLN):The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) concluded the trading week with a flat performance against the US Dollar (USD), holding its ground after a period of marginal but consistent appreciation to close at Rs281.46   in the interbank market.

The local currency's value against the greenback remained unchanged today, with an appreciation of just 1 paisa, compared to the previous close of 281.47 per USD. 

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 281.45 and a low (ask) of 281.50. 

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 281.80 for buying and 282.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 1.97 rupees or 0.59% against the Euro, closing at 330.91 compared to the previous value of 332.88.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 4.12 rupees or 1.07% to 379.56 compared to 383.69 a day ago.

The local unit appreciated 2.71 rupees or 0.76% against Swiss franc to close at 354.08.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value gained 1.04 paisa or 0.54% to close the session at 1.9019 versus 1.9123 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee appreciated 3.16 paisa or 0.08% against Chinese Yuan to close at 39.57 from 39.60.

The local currency deteriorated by 0.92 paisa or 0.01% against Saudi Riyal to 75.05. While it increased by 0.29 paisa or 0.00% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.63.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has increased against the US Dollar by 2.31 rupees or 0.82%. While it has deteriorated 2.91 rupees or 1.03% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 2bps to 10.82% and 11.07%.
