June 30, 2026 (MLN): The first batch of photovoltaic panels destined for four solar parks being built in Isalnita, Tismana and Rovinari has reached Romania, part of a total shipment of roughly 800,000 panels for the projects.

The four parks, jointly developed by OMV Petrom and Complexul Energetic Oltenia, will have a combined capacity of about 550 MW.

The company said the initial panel batches were unloaded at the Port of Constanta and will now be moved by specialized trucks in stages to the park sites, with around 1,500 truck transports needed to complete the logistics operation.

The transport schedule has been coordinated so installation can start as soon as panels reach each location, APP reported.

The panels come from a major global manufacturer and belong to the N-type Half-cell Bifacial Module generation, built to perform under varying temperatures and sunlight conditions for stable long-term output, according to the company.

Once installed, the roughly 800,000 panels will cover an area comparable to Bucharest's Herastrau Park, or more than 1,500 football pitches.

OMV Petrom said construction crews will begin mounting panels on the completed support structures as soon as the first shipments arrive, with work proceeding in parallel across all three sites according to the project schedule.

The parks are expected to come online in 2027, with output projected to meet the annual electricity needs of about 500,000 households, based on Romania's average solar capacity factor and average household consumption figures from the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).

The project carries a total investment of more than 400 million euros, about 70% of which comes from the Modernization Fund.

A first tranche of roughly 70 million euros was disbursed in December 2025. OMV Petrom and Complexul Energetic Oltenia each hold a 50% stake in the venture.

OMV Petrom also said it is backing the RenewAcad program, run jointly with CE Oltenia, which retrains company employees for roles in renewable energy production.

About 255 Oltenia Energy Complex employees have so far completed the "Installer for solar photovoltaic systems" course, gaining skills in assembling, commissioning and maintaining solar installations, part of a broader effort that has trained more than 10,000 professionals to support Romania's energy transition, the company said.

OMV Petrom is the largest integrated energy producer in South-Eastern Europe, with group-wide crude oil and gas output of roughly 38 million barrels of oil equivalent in 2025.

The company is listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, with 28.1% of its shares freely traded. As of end-2025, Romanian shareholders held about 45% of the company, including a 20.7% stake held by the Romanian state and 24.4% held by Romanian pension funds and other domestic investors.

Complexul Energetic Oltenia is one of Romania's leading electricity producers and the country's largest lignite-based energy company, playing a key role in the stability of the National Energy System.
