July 01, 2026 (MLN): The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) has released its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report 2025, highlighting that its member companies collectively invested Rs15bn in social welfare initiatives during fiscal year 2025, marked a 10% increase compared to the previous year.
The CSR spending directly benefited more than 44m people
across Pakistan. Of the total investment, Rs4.5bn was allocated to flood
relief and rehabilitation efforts undertaken last year.
In addition, OICCI members contributed over 13m man-hours
to social sector activities in collaboration with 270 civil society organizations.
The report noted that the CSR investments were largely
aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
with Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) receiving the largest share of
non-flood-relief spending, accounting for more than 60% of such
contributions.
Healthcare initiatives attracted Rs6.5bn, supporting
free and subsidised medical services, hospital infrastructure, maternal
healthcare, and mental health programmes, benefiting more than 19m
individuals.
Education-related programmes received Rs1bn, reaching
around 0.9m beneficiaries through scholarships, digital learning,
vocational training, and improvements in school infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Rs645m was allocated to poverty
alleviation initiatives, benefiting over 1.2m people through income
generation schemes, microfinance, and social protection programmes.
The report further highlighted that CSR activities were
carried out across Pakistan, with Sindh and Punjab accounting for
nearly half of all interventions. Significant outreach was also recorded in Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa (17%), Balochistan (13%), Gilgit-Baltistan (12%),
and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (10%).
Commenting on the report, OICCI Secretary General M.
Abdul Aleem said the findings reflect the commitment of foreign investors
to support communities beyond their business operations.
He added that, through partnerships with 270 social
sector organisations, member companies have expanded their efforts in
healthcare, education, and livelihood development across the country.
Speaking at the report launch, UNDP Resident
Representative in Pakistan Dr. Samuel Rizk said the CSR initiatives
demonstrate the type of private sector leadership needed to advance Pakistan's
development priorities.
He noted that aligning corporate investments with the SDGs,
particularly in health, education, and poverty reduction, contributes directly
to the country's long-term development agenda.
The report also emphasized OICCI members' continued emphasis on climate action and sustainability through initiatives focused on clean energy, water stewardship, and responsible consumption in line with Pakistan's broader environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives.
