OGDCL discovers gas, condensate at Faakir-1 well

June 12, 2025 (MLN): Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC) has revealed a gas and condensate discovery from its exploratory well Faakir-1, located in the Bitrisim Exploration Licence area in District Khairpur, Sindh.

OGDCL operates the well with a 95% working interest in partnership with Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), which holds the remaining 5%, the notification issued to the local bourse.

The Faakir-1 well was spudded on December 31, 2024, and drilled to a depth of 4,185 meters in the Sembar Formation using OGDCL’s in-house expertise and in close coordination with the Joint Venture Partner.

Wireline log interpretations led to two Drill Stem Tests (DSTs) conducted in the Lower Goru Formation, focusing on the Massive Sand and Basal Sand intervals.

Cumulative results from the tests showed a production of 6.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMSCFD) and 55 barrels per day (BPD) of condensate through a 32/64" choke.

The wellhead flowing pressures recorded were 450 psi for DST-1 and 850 psi for DST-2.

This marks a significant breakthrough in the Bitrisim Exploration Licence, enhancing commercial prospectivity from the Lower Goru Formation and extending the licence's operational life.

The discovery reflects the Joint Venture’s commitment to aggressive exploration and is expected to help reduce the country’s energy demand-supply gap while adding to the hydrocarbon reserves of both OGDCL and Pakistan.
