National Wheat supply stable ahead of 2025-26 Food Year

December 23, 2025 (MLN): Ample wheat stocks are available to meet Pakistan’s requirements for the Food Year 2025-26, the Cabinet Committee on Essential and Cash Crops has confirmed.

The Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad, reviewed the current wheat crop situation, stock levels, and strategies to enhance per-acre yields, according to Radio Pakistan.

Data shared by the provinces indicated that sowing for the Rabi 2025-26 season is on track, aligning with the targets set under the Interim National Wheat Policy 2025-26.

The policy has reportedly strengthened farmer confidence and created a positive outlook in the agricultural sector.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Dar welcomed the smooth availability of certified seeds and other essential inputs, acknowledging the coordinated efforts toward achieving wheat self-sufficiency.

He emphasized the importance of adopting improved wheat varieties and stressed ongoing federal and provincial collaboration to safeguard national food security in the years ahead.
