NEC session delayed again, rescheduled for June 9

June 08, 2026 (MLN): The meeting of the National Economic Council (National Economic Council), originally scheduled for Monday (June 8, 2026), has once again been deferred and will now take place on Tuesday, June 9, at 11:30 am at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, according to notification issued by the Cabinet Division.

This marks the third change in the meeting schedule. The NEC session was first planned for May 22, later moved to June 3, then rescheduled to June 8, and has now been postponed once more by a day.

The upcoming meeting, to be chaired by the Prime Minister, will focus on key national economic and development priorities.

The agenda includes the review of the national investment plan for FY2025-26, approval of the investment framework for FY2026-27, and consideration of provisional GDP growth estimates for the outgoing fiscal year FY2025-26, along with finalisation of figures for FY2024-25.

In addition, the council will assess progress reports from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) and the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) for the current fiscal year FY2025-26.

Separately, the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) had recently recommended a record national development outlay of Rs4.715 trillion, alongside a GDP growth target of 4% for FY2026-27, which will now be placed before the NEC for final approval.
