May 21, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has offered Kuwait investment opportunities in fuel storage, bonded terminals, jetty construction and port infrastructure projects as part of efforts to expand foreign participation in the country’s maritime and energy logistics sectors.

The proposals were discussed during talks between Pakistan’s maritime authorities and Kuwait’s Ambassador Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Al-Mutairi, according to a press release issued by the minister's office on Thursday.

Among the projects presented to the Kuwaiti side was the government’s planned “Energy City” initiative, aimed at developing integrated energy and logistics hubs near major ports.

Pakistan also invited Kuwait to explore projects related to the storage and handling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), crude oil and white oil products at national ports.

The government is also seeking investment in rental-based bonded storage facilities to support regional trade flows and improve supply chain efficiency for energy imports and exports.

A proposed multipurpose terminal at Port Qasim was also shared with the Kuwaiti side. The project includes plans for new terminals and storage infrastructure to expand cargo-handling capacity and strengthen Pakistan’s position in regional maritime trade and energy transit.

Officials said discussions also covered cooperation in infrastructure development and jetty construction, with assurances of government facilitation for potential Kuwaiti investment.

The talks come as Pakistan pushes to attract foreign capital into transport, logistics and port-related infrastructure while deepening economic cooperation with Gulf countries.

Kuwait expressed interest in reviewing the proposed projects, particularly those linked to the Energy City initiative and port-based fuel storage infrastructure, with both sides agreeing to continue consultations on potential collaboration.
