December 04, 2025 (MLN): K-Electric and DP World have signed an
agreement to build a dedicated 132 kV grid station at Pakistan’s Qasim
International Container Terminal (QICT), ensuring a reliable 26MW power supply
to support the terminal’s expanding operations and the country’s growing role
in global trade.
The project aims to enhance power resilience, improve
operational efficiency, and support future electrification at the key trade
gateway, reflecting both companies’ commitment to sustainability, reliability,
and innovation, according to a press release issued.
Sadia Dada, Chief Distribution & Marcomms Officer at KE,
said, “The move to grid power represents growing confidence in the system’s
reliability and cost competitiveness, especially for industries with expanding
operations.
Our agreement with DP World reflects a shared understanding
that stable, high-quality electricity is fundamental to growth and efficiency.”
Junaid Zamir, DP World’s CEO of QICT, added, “Reliable
energy is the backbone of continued growth at Port Qasim. This partnership with
KE to install a dedicated grid station strengthens our terminal’s resilience
and supports more sustainable trade across Pakistan and beyond.”
The new station will ensure uninterrupted power for QICT’s
operations, reinforcing KE’s role in driving sustainable industrial growth and
energizing critical sectors such as ports, manufacturing, and logistics.
DP World is a leading global provider of end-to-end logistics solutions, facilitating trade across six continents, including its operations at Port Qasim.
