KE Seeks RS44bn end-of-term adjustment

May 12, 2026 (MLN): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has concluded a public hearing on K-Electric’s petition seeking End-of-Term (EoT) adjustments under its approved Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) framework for the FY2017–FY2023 control period.

During the proceedings, K-Electric informed the regulator that its cumulative EoT adjustment claim stands at Rs43.6bn.

The company stated that the claims primarily relate to the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on the allowed Return on Equity (RoE), investment-related adjustments, and working capital actualization based on actual balances compared with benchmark projections approved under the MYT framework.

The power utility also requested NEPRA’s approval for pass-through claims associated with taxes paid during the period, maintaining that such claims were submitted strictly in accordance with the tariff framework and regulatory provisions approved by the Authority.

The adjustment mechanisms were already incorporated in NEPRA’s MYT determination for FY2017–FY2023 as well as the subsequent mid-term review determination.

These mechanisms envisaged that certain components would be reviewed and adjusted at the end of the tariff control period through a prescribed regulatory process.

K-Electric reiterated before the Authority that all claims submitted under the EoT adjustment petition are fully aligned with the methodologies and mechanisms previously approved by NEPRA under the MYT framework.
