Govt to release fifth, sixth fuel subsidy payments in June

June 05, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan's Fuel Subsidy Scheme has so far disbursed four rounds of payments on a biweekly basis over the past two months, with the fifth and sixth tranches scheduled for release during June.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review implementation of the scheme, said a press release issued.

The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, the federal secretary for petroleum, chief secretaries of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and officials from Gilgit-Baltistan, the Islamabad Capital Territory and other federal and provincial departments.

Ishaq Dar expressed satisfaction with overall progress and directed authorities to maintain close coordination among federal and provincial institutions while strengthening oversight mechanisms to ensure assistance reaches intended beneficiaries.

Officials briefed the deputy prime minister on transparency and accountability measures and coordination with provincial governments.

The scheme is part of the government's broader efforts to cushion the impact of rising energy costs on key sectors and lower-income households amid regional economic pressures.
