Govt raises petrol price by Rs14.92, diesel by Rs15 per litre

May 09, 2026 (MLN): Fuel prices in Pakistan have
surged once again, delivering a fresh blow to households and businesses.
According to a press release issued by the Petroleum
Division, Ministry of Energy, Motor Spirit (petrol) has been increased by
Rs14.92 per litre, moving from Rs399.86 to Rs414.78.
High-speed diesel (HSD), which fuels much of the country's transport and freight network, has seen a jump of Rs15 per litre, now priced at Rs414.58.
The government has also raised the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) by Rs 13.91 per litre on both petrol and diesel, bringing the new levy on petrol to Rs 117.41 per litre and on diesel to Rs 42.60 per litre.
The new rates will take effect from May 9, 2026.
