Govt directs uninterrupted fuel supply amid flood disruptions

September 08, 2025 (MLN): The government have instructed authorities to exercise strict vigilance to ensure the uninterrupted movement of petroleum products as floods continue to disrupt life in several parts of the country.

The directive came from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a meeting in Lahore with Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, said a press release issued yesterday.

The Petroleum Minister updated the Prime Minister on ongoing initiatives in the energy sector, recent reforms, and the contingency measures being taken to keep fuel supplies stable despite logistical challenges caused by the floods.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that petroleum remains vital for the functioning of the economy, industries, and the daily needs of citizens.

 He directed that all available resources be mobilized to prevent any shortages, making it clear that lapses in supply management during this critical period would not be acceptable.

The Prime Minister commended the Petroleum Ministry’s efforts to reinforce the fuel supply chain and promote transparency in ongoing projects.

He also reiterated the need to push forward energy reforms aimed at providing affordable and reliable solutions for the public, while urging faster execution of key projects of national importance.

Furthermore, a renewed pledge by the government was taken to safeguard uninterrupted energy supplies, manage the flood crisis effectively, and adopt a proactive approach to both political and economic challenges.
