October 08, 2026 (MLN): The government has directed all
federal ministries to complete the necessary measures in a timely manner so
that relevant data can be made available on the national digital platform, with
a central national data centre set to play a key role in delivering government
services and facilitating citizens.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the
directive while chairing a meeting on the Digital Nation Pakistan Programme in
Islamabad, said a press release issued.
Various federal ministries briefed the meeting
on their public services, performance and the provision of relevant data to the
central data centre.
Shehbaz Sharif said the programme aims
to ensure effective and convenient services for people at the national level.
He noted that bringing useful data from all sectors and government departments
together in one place would contribute to the country's economic development.
He said data sharing among departments
had played a key role in the successful rollout of the fuel subsidy scheme for
deserving segments of society.
He added that digitising ministries'
performance and relevant data was also important for curbing corruption and
institutional mismanagement.
The prime minister praised the
Ministry of Health for its commendable measures, in coordination with
provincial governments, to develop a universal medical record at the national
level. He also appreciated the introduction of QR codes to ensure the supply of
quality medicines across the country.
The meeting was informed that
digitisation in basic public service sectors, particularly health and
agriculture, was being completed on a priority basis for the convenience of the
people.
The prime minister directed all
federal ministries to finish digitising relevant data within the stipulated
timeframe, in coordination with provincial governments and departments
concerned.
