Govt approves over Rs24bn in TSGs, revisits Roosevelt Hotel plan

October 03, 2025 (MLN): The government has approved over Rs24bn in Technical Supplementary Grants (TSGs) and took up key financial proposals.

This took place during a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, said a press release issued.

The ECC considered a summary from the Ministry of Defence seeking financial support for Roosevelt Hotel, New York, after the termination of its lease agreement with New York City.

While the committee expressed support for addressing the hotel’s immediate financial needs, it directed the ministry to revisit its estimates and resubmit the matter for final approval.

For the construction of the Defence Complex Islamabad, the ECC approved a TSG of Rs4bn to compensate residents of land acquired for the project.

The Finance Division will arrange these funds, while the balance requirement will be met by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

To strengthen security and law enforcement, the ECC sanctioned Rs20bn as TSG for the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control, with funds to be released on demand in phases.

Separately, another Rs174.8m was approved for the Interior Division to support operations of HQ Frontier Corps KP (N) Peshawar.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Investment Board Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Privatisation Muhammad Ali, as well as federal secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries.
