Gas, oil production decline WoW in May's final week

June 04, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan's oil and gas production declined for the week ending May 31, as output fell across both hydrocarbons on a week-on-week basis.

Gas production dropped 1.9% WoW to 3,070 mmcfd from 3,130 mmcfd the previous week, while oil production fell 2% WoW to 69,516 bopd from 70,924 bopd, according to data compiled by Arif Habib Limited.

Among companies tracked in AHL's E&P universe, OGDC posted the largest oil output decline of 2.7% WoW to 35,689 bopd, the highest absolute volume among listed E&P companies. PPL fell 1.3% to 11,783 bopd and POL declined 1.9% to 4,070 bopd.

MARI bucked the trend, rising 1.7% to 1,434 bopd.

On the gas side, OGDC's output fell 2.9% WoW to 685 mmcfd, while PPL slipped 0.7% to 546 mmcfd and POL dropped 1.4% to 63 mmcfd. MARI was the sole gainer, rising 2.6% to 998 mmcfd.

Major Producing Fields — Oil

At the field level, Nashpa remained the top oil-producing field, edging up 1.1% WoW to 10,853 bopd. Makori East recorded the steepest decline, falling 11.6% to 4,091 bopd. Adhi rose 3.1% to 4,850 bopd and Marden Khel gained 3.8% to 1,164 bopd, providing partial offsets. Kunner Pasaki Deep slipped 0.8% to 5,315 bopd, while Baragzai was broadly flat at 6,173 bopd.

Major Producing Fields — Gas

On the gas side, Mari remained the largest producing field, rising 2.4% WoW to 927 mmcfd. Uch recorded the sharpest decline, plunging 16% to 342 mmcfd, followed by Sutiari Deep which fell 11.8% to 78 mmcfd. Nashpa rose 5.3% to 100 mmcfd and Shewa gained 5.7% to 100 mmcfd, while Sui slipped 0.6% to 229 mmcfd and Qadirpur fell 1.2% to 109 mmcfd.
