Fertilizer offtake falls 11% in October 2025

November 19, 2025 (MLN):  Fertilizer consumption in Pakistan during October 2025, witnessed a 10.9% decrease YoY in overall nutrient offtake to stand at 372,000 tonnes, according to the latest Monthly Fertilizer Review released by the National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC).

In October, urea offtake was at 350,000 tonnes, registering a decrease of 2.2% compared to the same month last year. On the other hand, DAP consumption decreased by 27.2%, to 219,000 tonnes.

Nutrient-wise, nitrogen offtake decreased by 5.1%, phosphate by 20.8% but potash rose by 18.9%.

Domestic fertilizer production in October 2025 totaled 853,000 tonnes, with urea was at 604,000 tonnes and DAP at 75,000 tonnes. Other significant contributors included NP (82,000 tonnes) and CAN (75,000 tonnes). Imports remained modest, led by DAP at 117,000 tonnes and TSP at 27,800 tonnes.

Regionally, urea offtake rose in Sindh by 14.1%, while Balochistan and KP recorded at 17.3% and 49% respectively. Punjab saw a modest decrease of 11.8%.

DAP offtake decreased by 29%, 30% and 22% in Punjab, Sindh and  KP, respectively while  offtake increased  by 42% in Balochistan.

On the pricing front, domestic fertilizer prices showed mixed trends. Urea (Sona) declined slightly by 0.2% to Rs. 4,379 per 50 kg bag, while other urea brands rose by 0.2%. DAP prices rose by 4.4% to Rs. 14,416 per bag. NP and SSP also saw price increases of 4% and 3.8%, respectively. Internationally, urea and DAP prices remained stable in key markets such as China and Middle East.
