June 17, 2026 (MLN): Fertilizer consumption in
Pakistan recorded a mixed performance in May 2026, as overall nutrient offtake
declined by 4.5% year-on-year to 299,000 tonnes, according to the Monthly
Fertilizer Review released by the National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC).
In May, urea offtake stood at 419,000 tonnes, registering a
marginal increase of 0.2% compared to the same month last year. DAP
consumption, however, decreased sharply by 37.5% to 61,000 tonnes.
Nutrient-wise, nitrogen offtake decreased by 1.1%, phosphate
by 17.9% and potash by 15.6%.

Cumulative nutrient offtake during Kharif 2026 (April-May)
was 619,000 tonnes, which increased by 15.7% over Kharif 2025. Nitrogen and
potash offtake increased by 23.7% and 21.1%, respectively, while phosphate
offtake decreased by 11.5%, attributed to high prices.
