July 21, 2026 (MLN): Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator
Muhammad Ishaq Dar reaffirmed the federal government's resolve to address the
concerns of the people of Balochistan and to work towards fulfilling their
legitimate aspirations for economic prosperity and development, while staying
within the framework of the Constitution of Pakistan.
The assurance came as the DPM/FM met with National Party President Dr.
Abdul Malik Baloch and parliamentary members of his party, according to a press
release issued by Ministry of information and broadcasting.
Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah Khan and
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa were also present at the
meeting.
Dr. Baloch expressed gratitude to the DPM/FM and affirmed his party's
willingness to collaborate with all stakeholders for the welfare and betterment
of Balochistan's people, noting that certain elements active in the province
enjoyed neither genuine support nor legitimacy among the local population.
The federal government's renewed assurances come against the backdrop of
a province that has lately been at the centre of Pakistan's economic ambitions
as well as its security challenges. Balochistan holds roughly 75% of the country's mineral wealth and hosts
Gwadar port.
Lately, the province has seen repeated disruptions to routine economic
activity, largely stemming from attacks on security personnel and transport
infrastructure.
Despite the security concerns, provincial authorities are moving ahead
with plans to position Balochistan as an investment destination.
