FM stresses skilled workforce development for agriculture, allied sectors

June 20, 2025 (MLN): The need to develop a skilled labor force capable of contributing meaningfully to agriculture, food processing, and allied sectors was emphasized by Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain.

This was discussed during a meeting in Islamabad with the Chairman of the Muawin Foundation, Muhammad Asif Sandila, who called on the Minister, as per the press release issued.

During the meeting, Rana Tanveer Hussain underlined the importance of introducing innovative training programs specifically tailored to the needs of rural populations, particularly those involved in farming, livestock, and agribusiness.

He commended the Muawin Foundation’s holistic approach to social development, which includes improving education in government schools, promoting community involvement, encouraging volunteering, and providing vocational and technical training in rural areas.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of educating the children of farmers, an objective that aligns closely with Muawin Foundation's mission of delivering quality primary and secondary education in underprivileged regions.

Moreover, Rana Tanveer Hussain praised the Foundation’s focus on female empowerment through income-generating skills and microfinancing opportunities, noting the critical role of women in the rural economy.

Both parties discussed potential areas of collaboration aimed at uplifting rural communities, strengthening vocational training, and empowering marginalized groups, particularly women and youth.
