FBR tax collection reaches over Rs3tr in July-September

October 01, 2026 (MLN): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected around Rs3.072 trillion in taxes during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27, according to the latest data.

Collection during July-September remained above the quarterly target of Rs3.053 trillion, with the FBR collecting about Rs19 billion more than the assigned target.

The latest figures show tax collection gained momentum in September, with the FBR provisionally collecting more than Rs1.344 trillion against the monthly target of Rs1.343 trillion, exceeding it by around Rs1 billion.

The development follows a collection of Rs1.722 trillion during the first two months of FY27, which was Rs12bn above the two-month target of Rs1.710tr.

During August 2026, the FBR collected Rs902bn, showing a 2% year-on-year increase, although the monthly collection remained Rs28bn below the Rs930bn target.

The FBR’s tax collection during July and August was around 5% higher than the corresponding period of the previous year.

The revenue authority also issued Rs155bn in tax refunds during the first two months of FY27, Rs31bn higher than the refunds issued during the same period last year. 

The latest quarterly performance comes as the FBR continues efforts to improve revenue collection and enforcement while meeting the government’s ambitious tax targets for FY27.
