ECC clears Rs9.2bn supplementary funding

June 14, 2026 (MLN): The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Saturday approved the provision of an additional 50,000 metric tons of wheat to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and sanctioned technical supplementary grants (TSGs) exceeding Rs9.19bn for various federal projects and operational requirements.
The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb,
reviewed several summaries submitted by different ministries and divisions.
The ECC approved a proposal of the Ministry of National Food
Security and Research to provide 50,000 metric tons of wheat from PASSCO stocks
to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government at a rate of Rs4,150 per 40 kilograms to
help meet the province’s wheat requirements.
The committee also sanctioned a TSG of Rs2.67bn for the
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to support federal public information,
awareness campaigns, and related publicity activities during FY2025-26.
In addition, the ECC approved a supplementary grant of Rs860
million for projects being implemented by SUPARCO, including the establishment
of deep space and astronomical observatories in Pakistan and the country’s
manned space mission initiative.
A further Rs646 million was approved for the Ministry of
Interior and Narcotics Control to meet operational requirements of Headquarters
Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) in Turbat, covering operational readiness,
protective equipment, vehicle repairs, and communication systems.
The committee also approved a Rs5 billion federal
contribution toward the compensation package for dock workers of the Karachi
Dock Labour Board under a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Maritime
Affairs.
Meanwhile, a TSG of Rs10m was sanctioned for the
Parliamentary Affairs Division to cover expenditures related to arrangements
for the FY2026-27 Budget Session of Parliament.
The meeting was attended by several federal ministers, including Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Ahsan Iqbal, along with senior government officials from relevant ministries and divisions.
