June 17, 2026 (MLN): A new electricity bill format has been introduced across Pakistan by electricity distribution companies (DISCOs), showing the Ministry of Energy (Power Division)’s consumer-focused reform initiative aimed at enhancing transparency, readability, and overall customer experience.

The redesigned format places key billing information in a clearer and more structured layout, allowing consumers to easily understand their electricity usage, bill components, and payment obligations without dealing with unnecessary complexity.

The change follows repeated feedback from consumers and stakeholders over the years, who had raised concerns over the previous bill design, according to APP.

Earlier formats were widely regarded as cluttered and difficult to interpret due to excessive information, repetitive details, and technical complexity, which often made it harder for consumers to quickly identify essential billing data.

In response, and in line with its commitment to improved service delivery and transparency, the new design has been developed with a simplified and uncluttered approach.

It highlights billing amounts, due dates, and consumption details more prominently, while organizing information in a way that can be understood at a glance.

Visual complexity has been reduced to make the bill more accessible for all users.

The updated bills also include QR codes, enabling consumers to conveniently access additional information and digital services.

The Ministry of Energy Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has stated that consumer feedback played a key role in shaping the redesign and reiterated its commitment to continued reforms aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and service delivery in Pakistan’s power sector.
