Customs seizes 10,000 ecstasy pills in Germany Mail Parcel

December 09, 2025 (MLN): Karachi Customs has seized 10,226 MDMA (ecstasy) tablets worth more than Rs320 million after intercepting a parcel arriving from Germany at the International Mail Office, according to the press release.

The Air Cargo Control Unit (ACCU) found the drugs during a detailed examination of the shipment, which had been declared as “clothes and electronics etc.” The tablets were concealed inside speakers and LED lamps.

The interception prevented a major narcotics consignment from entering Pakistan’s domestic market.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said Customs operations continue to focus on enhanced scrutiny of incoming foreign parcels as Pakistan faces rising trafficking risks linked to global mail and cargo routes.

Customs have stepped up enforcement in recent days, highlighted by a seizure near the Karachi–Hyderabad Toll Plaza.

Customs Enforcement Karachi intercepted a tampered Toyota Land Cruiser Prado fitted with hidden compartments and carrying 564 smuggled mobile phones worth Rs96 million.

The vehicle itself was also found to be non-duty-paid. Both the phones and the Prado have been seized, and an FIR has been registered as authorities continue to crack down on increasingly sophisticated smuggling methods.
