Customs foils smuggling bids worth over Rs154m across Balochistan

September 30, 2026 (MLN): Customs Enforcement in Gadani has seized smuggled goods worth over Rs154 mn, including the value of the vehicles used to carry them, in a series of intelligence-based operations across Makran Division, Lasbela and Hub in Balochistan.

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Gadani, carried out the actions through its enforcement teams in coordination with other law-enforcement agencies, said a press release issued.

The largest seizure, worth over Rs130 mn including the carriers, came from a joint operation with the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Hub, in which the Field Enforcement Unit Khurkhera stopped two passenger buses in the Lasbela area.

 A detailed search turned up foreign-origin betel nuts, cosmetics, cigarettes, Indian Gutka and parachute cloth hidden in specially built cavities inside the buses.

In a separate action, the Mobile Enforcement Unit, Hub, raided a godown in the Hub area and recovered plastic shopper bags and skimmed milk powder worth around Rs20 mn. The goods were moved to the State Warehouse, Gadani, following the prescribed procedure.

The Field Enforcement Unit Gwadar also intercepted 750 kg of smuggled Iranian edible oil, packed in 150 tins of 5 kg each, during checking on the Coastal Highway. The consignment is valued at about Rs4 mn.

Pakistan Customs said it will keep up intelligence-based and coordinated operations across the region to stop the illegal movement of smuggled goods and protect legitimate trade and the national economy.
