October 29, 2025 (MLN): In a landmark development for Pakistan’s energy sector and bilateral trade ties with the United States, Cnergyico Pk Limited has successfully received the country’s first-ever shipment of US crude oil at its Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminal in Balochistan today.
The Suezmax vessel MT Pegasus, loaded with 1 million barrels of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude from Houston on September 14, docked at Cnergyico’s offshore terminal this morning, marking a historic milestone as the largest crude oil vessel ever to berth at a Pakistani port.
This shipment marks the commencement of US crude oil imports into Pakistan, following a recent trade agreement between Islamabad and Washington aimed at diversifying Pakistan’s energy supply and enhancing economic cooperation.
Cnergyico, Pakistan’s largest oil refiner, has once again made history, having previously set the record in FY2017 for bringing the largest crude oil vessel to Pakistan.
The company confirmed that a second cargo of 1 million barrels of US crude is expected to arrive by mid-November, while a third shipment is planned for early 2026 as part of its long-term import strategy.
A Cnergyico spokesperson said the milestone reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s energy resilience while advancing Pakistan-US trade relations.
“This first-ever US crude import not only strengthens our refining operations but also marks a new era of cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in the energy sector,” the company stated.
The arrival of MT Pegasus underscores Pakistan’s strategic move to broaden its crude sourcing options amid evolving global energy dynamics, a development that could enhance supply security and trade diversification for the country’s refining industry.
