COIED registers 11 new cases, completes 103 disposals in August 2025

September 09, 2025 (MLN): The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances (COIED) has disposed of 103 cases of missing persons and registered 11 new cases during August 2025, while also preparing to make its KP Registry functional in the third week of September 2025.

According to the Commission’s data, a total of 8,873 cases have been disposed of out of the 10,618 cases received between March 2011 and August 2025, reflecting a disposal rate of 83.56%.

Of these, 6,809 persons’ whereabouts have been traced, while 1,745 cases remain under investigation at the Commission’s Islamabad, Karachi, Quetta, and Lahore Registries, as per the press release issued today.

The Commission has also introduced hearings via video link to save time and expenses for stakeholders and families who previously had to travel to Islamabad.

Chairman of the Commission, Mr Justice Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, has been frequently visiting various stations to expedite case disposals and provide justice at the doorstep of aggrieved families.
