October 22, 2026 (MLN): Cherat Cement Company Limited (PSX: CHCC) reported a 6% increase in its net profit for the first quarter ended September 30, 2026 (1QFY27 / 3MFY27), reaching Rs2.22bn compared to Rs2.10bn in the corresponding period last year.

Reflecting this steady bottom-line growth, basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) expanded to Rs11.44, up from Rs10.79 in 1QFY26.

The primary factors supporting the quarter's performance were a 2% expansion in net turnover alongside a 51% cut in finance costs and a 16% boost in non-operating income.

Net turnover for the quarter rose to Rs10.51bn, up from Rs10.29bn in 1QFY26. Cost of sales increased 3% to Rs6.75bn, keeping gross profit stable at Rs3.76bn compared to Rs3.74bn in the prior-year period.

On the operational front, administrative expenses rose 15% to Rs191.25m, distribution costs edged up 4% to Rs225.75m, and other operating expenses stood at Rs198.18m.

Supported by a 16% increase in "other income" (Rs404.55m up from Rs347.60m), operating profit rose 1% to Rs3.55bn.

Below the operating line, CHCC gained substantial debt-servicing relief as finance costs fell 51% to Rs46.95m (down from Rs94.93m in 1QFY26), supported by lower borrowing costs. This pushed profit before income tax up 3% to Rs3.50bn.

The company absorbed a slightly reduced corporate taxation charge of Rs1.28bn for the quarter (down 3% from Rs1.32bn in 1QFY26).

Backed by stable top-line revenues, treasury income contributions, and debt cost savings, Cherat Cement Company Limited securely closed the three-month period with its net profit reaching Rs2.22bn.
