Banks to extend Saturday hours for tax payments

October 29, 2026 (MLN): Commercial banks have been directed to keep their Saturday-opening branches open until 8:00pm on October 31, 2026, to facilitate over-the-counter payment of government duties and taxes.

The move follows a request from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), according to a press release issued.

Banks have also been advised to keep the relevant branches open on October 31 for as long as needed to support the special clearing of government receipts conducted by the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).

Banks were further asked to ensure uninterrupted availability of their digital payment channels, including internet banking, mobile banking applications, ATMs and other digital platforms, so that taxpayers can pay government duties and taxes online.
