Banks open this Saturday for easy Govt tax payments

February 26, 2026 (MLN): In a move to facilitate taxpayers, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has requested that all commercial banks, including National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branches handling customs collection, remain open on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. for over-the-counter (OTC) payment of government duties and taxes.

Banks have been instructed to keep branches open for as long as necessary to support the Special Clearing for Government transactions conducted by NIFT, according to the press release.

In addition to in-branch services, banks are ensuring uninterrupted access to online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to allow taxpayers to pay their government duties and taxes conveniently from anywhere.

The FBR and participating banks urge taxpayers to take advantage of both OTC and digital payment options to ensure timely clearance of dues and avoid any last-minute inconvenience.
