September 25, 2026 (MLN): Big Bird Foods Limited (PSX: BBFL) reported a 4% increase in its net profit for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, reaching Rs1.17bn compared to Rs1.12bn (restated) in the preceding year.

Reflecting this steady bottom-line growth, basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) for the year rose to Rs3.80, up from Rs3.75 in FY25.

The primary drivers behind the performance were robust top-line growth and a 29% expansion in gross profit.

Net sales grew by 30% year-on-year to Rs14.76bn, up from Rs11.36bn in FY25.

Although the cost of sales expanded 30% to Rs11.69bn, strong volume throughput enabled gross profit to expand to Rs3.07bn compared to Rs2.38bn in the prior year.

On the operational front, overheads expanded to support commercial scale and retail footprint growth.

Distribution and selling expenses surged 61% to Rs602.92m, while administration expenses rose 27% to Rs301.18m.

These outlays were partially offset by an 9% drop in other expenses (Rs153.65m) and a 47% boost in "other income" (Rs448.42m), pushing profit from operations up 29% to Rs2.46bn.

Below the operating line, BBFL benefited from reduced debt-servicing expenses.

Finance costs dropped 8% to Rs316.73m (down from Rs343.55m in FY25). Driven by gross margin gains and lower interest charges, profit before taxation jumped 37% to Rs2.15bn.

However, the company absorbed a 121% higher corporate taxation charge of Rs975.61m for the year (up from Rs442.18m in FY25).

Supported by 30% top-line revenue growth, expanded gross margins, a 47% boost in other income, and reduced finance costs, Big Bird Foods Limited securely closed the fiscal year with its net profit reaching Rs1.17bn.
