Auto financing rises to Rs369bn in May

June 17, 2026 (MLN): Automobile financing in Pakistan has increased to Rs369.12bn in May 2026, witnessing a rise of 2.65% MoM compared to Rs359.58bn recorded in April 2026, according to the latest data released by the central bank.
On a year on year basis, car financing increased by 36.09%, as in the same period last year, the figure for financing was reported at Rs271.24bn.

Going by the data provided by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), consumer financing for house building stood at Rs251.14bn by the end of May 2026, up by 24.43% YoY.
Month-wise, the financing for house building has increased by 6.97% compared to Rs234.76bn incurred in the previous month.
Meanwhile, financing for personal use clocked in at Rs275.08bn, up by 2.49% YoY while down 1.24% MoM.
Thereby, the overall credit disbursed to consumers registered a rise of 21% YoY to clock in at Rs1.1tr. Compared to the credit of Rs1.07tr in the previous month, consumer financing has recorded a 2.6% MoM rise.
The data released by the central bank further showed that outstanding credit to the private sector rose 12.43% YoY to Rs10.69tr in May 2026.
On a sequential basis, private sector loans reported a rise of 0.41% MoM compared to the credit of Rs10.64tr in April.
Under the credit to the private sector, the loans to the manufacturing sector clocked in at Rs5.79tr in the review period, up by 8.83% YoY while down 0.09% MoM.
The borrowing from the construction sector stood at Rs226.39bn in May, up by 3.4% YoY and 5.02% MoM.
Going forward, the data further shows that loans to the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors rose to Rs612.7bn in the month under review, up by 31.84% YoY, and on a sequential basis, the loans to the same sector recorded growth of 2.99% MoM.
