August 27, 2026 (MLN): Asian markets traded mostly higher on Thursday, buoyed by a rally in technology stocks after Nvidia posted stronger-than-expected quarterly results and issued an upbeat revenue outlook.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.32%, while the broader Topix advanced 0.27%. South Korea’s Kospi climbed 1.83%, with the small-cap Kosdaq rising 1.15%. Meanwhile, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.93%, according to CNBC.

Investor attention remained focused on developments in the Middle East, amid conflicting reports over the security situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Market participants were also awaiting China’s industrial profits data and signals from the Federal Reserve’s annual Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium regarding the future path of U.S. interest rates.

U.S. stock futures moved higher following a series of upbeat corporate earnings reports. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 0.3%, while S&P 500 futures gained 0.5% and Nasdaq 100 futures jumped 0.8%.

Nvidia shares surged more than 4% in premarket trading after the chipmaker exceeded Wall Street expectations, with its fiscal second-quarter revenue more than doubling from a year earlier.

The company also projected robust revenue growth, strengthening optimism surrounding continued demand for artificial intelligence-related technologies.

Other technology companies also posted strong gains, with Salesforce jumping 13% after reporting better-than-expected quarterly revenue. Okta soared more than 20% after surpassing market expectations and highlighting strong demand linked to agentic AI.

Meanwhile, Wall Street’s three major indexes closed largely unchanged on Wednesday as investors weighed corporate earnings and prepared for the Jackson Hole symposium, which begins Thursday.

Markets will also track upcoming earnings from Best Buy before the opening bell, followed by results from Workday, Affirm and Gap later in the day.
