39,000 electric bikes to promote eco-friendly transport

December 12, 2024 (MLN): Federal Board Students will receive free electric bikes, while 39,000 electric bikes and 1,900 electric rickshaws will be provided on subsidized loans, as per the press release issued today.

The aforementioned information was shared by Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain during the fourth meeting on the Electric Vehicles Policy.

He further revealed that the top 120 Federal Board students will receive free electric bikes, during the meeting he also reviewed the progress on the construction of 40 charging stations along motorways and highways.

The Minister appreciated the efforts of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and directed it to install charging stations at all petrol pumps to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles, promoting eco-friendly transport.

He stated that the Electric Vehicles Policy would be launched soon to further strengthen the country’s eco-friendly transport system.

The Minister emphasized digitizing all processes for transparency and easy access to information.

Rana Tanveer Hussain confirmed that, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision, Islamabad will become a model city with widespread use of electric vehicles.
