PSX Closing Bell: Red Takes the Lead

January 26, 2026 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 188,587.66, showing a decrease of 579.16 points or 0.31%.
The index traded in a range of 2,764.35 points showing an intraday high of 191,032.73 (+1,865.91) and a low of 188,268.38 (-898.44) points.
The Pakistan Stock Exchange surged past a new milestone, with the KSE-100 Index crossing the 190,000 mark for the first time.
The gains were supported by expectations of a policy rate cut by the State Bank of Pakistan, which would bring the benchmark rate down, amid easing inflation, a stable external account, and improving industrial growth.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 449.79 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 31 closed up, 67 closed down, while 2 were unchanged.
Top losers during the day were PIOC (-9.02%), FATIMA (-4.46%), PIBTL (-3.24%), PAEL (-2.29%), and PSEL (-2.23%).
On the other hand, top gainers were SAZEW (+10.00%), JVDC (+6.70%), SSOM (+3.78%), MTL (+3.47%), and KEL (+3.41%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were MEBL (-143.55pts), ENGROH (-126.55pts), PIOC (-111.88pts), FATIMA (-87.23pts), and LUCK (-84.51pts).
Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were SAZEW (+139.92pts), SYS (+108.90pts), MTL (+56.08pts), JVDC (+54.89pts), and FFC (+41.34pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-168.83pts), Cement (-142.12pts), Commercial Banks (-137.11pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-132.14pts), and Fertilizer (-110.38pts).
While the index was supported by Automobile Assembler (+190.44pts), Technology & Communication (+125.92pts), Property (+54.89pts), Food & Personal Care Products (+6.84pts), and Textile Composite (+4.67pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 112,503.18 with a net loss of 306.47 points or 0.27%.
Total market volume was 870.45 million shares compared to 877.56m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs57.20 billion showing a decrease of Rs1.40bn.
There were 482,337 trades reported in 487 companies with 143 closing up, 298 closing down, and 46 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 62,960 points or 50.12% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 14,533 points or 8.35% so far this calendar year.
