May 30, 2025 (MLN): To discuss climate-aligned collaboration under the WFP–Government of Pakistan five-year cooperation framework, Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, met with Ms. Coco Ushiyama, Country Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

The discussions centered on tackling stunting in Pakistan by addressing the "4Cs" climate change, conflict, COVID-induced economic downturns, and corruption which are major factors driving malnutrition.

Both parties agreed on the importance of anticipatory and outcome-focused programs aimed at combating stunting through climate adaptation and resilience-building efforts.

Dr. Malik highlighted the need for joint initiatives that translate climate policies into practical actions on the ground, especially in vulnerable and food-insecure areas, according to the press release issued today.

The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to embedding climate resilience into Pakistan’s national nutrition and development plans.
