Weekly SPI increases by 0.69%

August 11, 2023 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group increased by 0.69% WoW during the week ended August 10, 2023, while the SPI increased by 30.82% YoY compared to the corresponding period from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 273.43 compared to 271.56 on August 03, 2023, while the index was recorded at 209.01 a year ago, on Aug 11, 2022.

Out of 51 items, the average price of 29 items increased, 5 items decreased, and 17 items remained stable.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.57% and 0.77%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.76% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.57%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 27.46% and 34.13%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 29.62% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 32.25%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.3470 per 50 kg bag which is 1.82% higher than last week’s price and 42.04% higher when compared to last year.

Meanwhile, average Cement price was recorded at Rs.1162 per 50 kg bag, which is 1.66% higher than the previous week and 11.84% higher than prices last year.
