Weekly SPI inches up by 0.2%

October 15, 2021 (MLN): The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group inched up by 0.2% during the week ended Oct 14, 2021, while the SPI increased by 12.66% compared to the corresponding week from last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) the Combined Index was at 159.26 compared to 158.94 on Oct 7, 2021, while the index was recorded at 141.36 a year ago, on Oct 15, 2020

Out of the 51 monitored items, the average price of 22 items increased, 10 items decreased whereas 19 items registered no change during the week.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 0.15% and 0.24%.

The Lowest Income Group witnessed a weekly increase of 0.15% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 0.24%.

On a yearly basis, analysis of SPI change across different income segments showed that SPI increased across all quantiles ranging between 11.28% and 14.12%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group increased by 14.12% while the highest income group recorded an increase of 12.77%.

The average price of Sona urea stood at Rs.1,822 per 50 kg bag remained same as last week’s price while when compared with the same week last year it was up by 7.74%.

Meanwhile, the average Cement price was recorded at Rs.704 per 50 kg bag, 0.45% higher than the previous week and 23.4% higher than prices last year.
