Turkmenistan offers to export highly affordable electricity to Pakistan

March 6, 2019 (MLN): Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Atadjan Movlamov stated that investors in his country are closely following the developments in Pakistan and are keen in investing in various flourishing sectors.

At a meeting between Mr. Atadjan Movlamov and Minister for Power Mr. Omar Ayub Khan yesterday, the two parties discussed mutual cooperation especially in the field of energy.

The Ambassador said that Turkmenistan besides TAPI, has also proposed to export electricity to Pakistan through a transmission line via Afghanistan

Since the rate of Turkmenistan proposed electricity is highly affordable, it will benefit Pakistan in many ways, he added.

Federal Minister for Power reiterated the Ambassador of Pakistan’s new investor friendly policies in all sectors and its result in enhancement of foreign investment in Pakistan.

He said that energy sector is one of the prime investment destination since the electricity consumption pattern are fast changing along with broadening of economic base of the country.

He further apprised the Ambassador that new renewable energy policy is in the offing which is bound to attract huge investment in the sector.

The Minister for Power assured Mr. Movlamov that after thorough homework Pakistan will respond to the proposal.
