Trading activity at PMEX soars by around 43% DoD

May 24, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) surged by 42.7% DoD on Wednesday to clock in at Rs24.61 billion compared to the previous session's Rs17.24bn.

Similarly, the number of lots traded soared to 13,947, compared to the 13,700 traded in the previous session.

The commodity exchange closed at 10,926, down by 1.61% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs15.04bn. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs3.53bn.

Silver also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs1.63bn. In addition, Nasdaq 100, Crude Oil and Platinum attracted substantial attention from investors, and their transactions stood at around Rs1.69bn, Rs660.7m, and Rs896m, respectively.

Moreover, Natural Gas transactions reached Rs88.09m, DJ at Rs375.33m, Copper at Rs214.23m, S&P 500 at Rs83.95m and Brent at Rs78.81m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 43 lots amounting to Rs99.65m changing hands.
