Trade deficit clocks in at $2.3bn in Feb’25

March 03, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan's trade deficit in February 2025 increased by 33.43% YoY, standing at $2.3 billion compared to $1.72bn in February 2024, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the deficit fell by 0.35%, compared to $2.3bn in January 2025.

The trade deficit widened in February 2025 as imports surged 10% YoY to $4.7bn, despite a 9.9% MoM decline.

In February 2025, Pakistan’s exports stood at $2.4bn, reflecting a 17% decrease from $2.95bn in January 2025.

Cumulatively, in the first eight months of the fiscal year 2024-25, the trade deficit changed, with a meagre increase of 6.3%, rising to $15.8bn compared to $14.8bn in 8MFY24.
