Trade deficit shrinks by 9.6% in last seven months

February 11, 2019 (MLN): Trade deficit during July to January FY19 has shrunk by 9.6% to $19.264 billion, reports provisional data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), today.

Meanwhile, deficit during January 2019 alone has shrunk by 32% from previous year to $2.461 billion, while on a month on month basis, the deficit has risen by 4%.

Exports in January increased by 4%, YoY to $2.043 billion whereas Imports in January decreased by 19%, YoY to $4.504 billion.

On the other hand, exports during July-January went up by 2.2% to $13.231 billion, while imports during the period trimmed down by 5% to $32.495 billion
