TPL Properties uncovers gas pocket at Korangi Creek site

April 03, 2025 (MLN): TPL Properties Limited (PSX: TPLP) discovered a pocket of underground gas during a preliminary site investigation at their development near Korangi Creek.

The gas is thought to be shallow biogenic methane, a naturally occurring gas resulting from the decomposition of organic material.

Initial technical evaluations, along with independent views from industry experts, suggest that the gas is not from a known natural gas reservoir and will likely dissipate naturally over time, provided the flame is allowed to burn.

The test was part of a series of extensive studies conducted over the past two years, reinforcing TPL Properties Limited's commitment to responsible and well-planned development.

These assessments were carried out in collaboration with leading national and international consultancy firms, the notification issued to the local bourse.

They include geotechnical studies, soil composition and contamination tests, Electrical Resistivity (ER) surveys, a comprehensive Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), and other baseline studies.

All field investigations, including the recent hydrological study, were conducted with the necessary approvals from relevant authorities and in full compliance with regulatory standards.
