Tax Filers exceed 2.5 million, says FBR Chairman

August 28, 2019 (MLN): The number of Income Tax Filers have exceeded 2.5 million and the efforts are continued to make tax declaration process easier, says FBR chairman Shabbar Zaidi, while holding media talks.

The chairman further said that the software has been launched to monitor sales tax returns and excise duties levied on tax payers. In addition, tax declaration form has been simplified to one page and we are trying to move to the centralized system to figuring out how much money is being transferred, for this, surveys are being conducted, he added.

With regards to ID card condition, he said “we have given two separated schemes to shopkeepers, while the condition of producing National ID card for the purchase of Rs50,000 will remain effective but the proceedings have been postponed until September.”

He further urged the Doctors, Engineers, educational institutes and the sectors that earn income to pay taxes to increase the tax net.

While giving his views regarding undeclared assets, he said that the actions on it will be expedited as the Prime Minister has given strict orders to identify undeclared assets.
