Talks between Pakistan and IMF likely to hold from May 18 in Doha

May 09, 2022 (MLN): Talks between Pakistan and International Monetary Fund (IMF) is likely to hold from May 18, 2022 in Doha.

The key measures to discuss will be the removal of subsidies on petrol and electricity.

The government is giving a subsidy of Rs65 billion a month on petroleum products. Of the Rs65bn, Rs21 billion is on petrol and Rs44 billion on diesel

The government might ask IMF to reduce subsidies in phases.
